    Engine Question

Hey I just bought a '73 Firebird Esprit. How do I find out for sure which engine is in it? Isn't there something stamped on the block or something. And if I have the original Pontiac 350 would it be a good idea to swap it out for a SBC, just thinking about easy of finding parts, cost, etc..

Any info would be appreciated. This is my first second gen F-body.

sure you could swap it for a SBC & it might be cheaper. but in my opnion, would be way cooler with Pontiac power. remember, this is coming from a Chevy guy

Ok, I know what it SHOULD have but I want to make sure what exactly is in there now. Any way to check that?

    i forgot

hey morty, i forgot to add the fact that if you haven't done so already, you should get a subscription to Ol' Skool Rodz as it is far more informative and way less offensive than this site. sumthin about good people and cars? ha. there are a few good people and lots of good cars here, but unless you were born with a wrench up ur a-hole, alot of these fools won't even help ye'. lots of them think everyone is born with their knowledge (won't mention any names mr. clubhotrod no other life havin' mr. streets) he's a real http://www.resourcenfoolwithaheaduph...ndairenass.com fool. just cause some of us aint little rich fux like you does not mean that we have no potential. your world revolves around you Bro (morty) and you should take yourself and run morty cuz there is always the rich boy tryin to keep us down. can't drop $5,000 on a paint job job, but i could damn sure box a $50.00 alley fight with ya and come out SMILIN' bout' your effed' up state in which I left ya richie knowledge-data hed. so don't take it to heart bro cuz we all have got to start somewhere. some just don't realize this cause the wrench is sooooo far up their arse that they can't see how others don't know the basics. we all have got to start somewhere. goodluck. Well said, thanks man.
I'm not a complete retard but this is my first older car. The other car I have is a '95 Z28. Yeah I'm defintely not a rich bastard but it doesn't bother me. I'd like to keep hanging out at this site, hopefully I can get something out of it. Yeah, I've never heard of Ol' Skool Rodz, I'll have to check that out. Thanks again.

Would someone mind telling me what streets said? I was gone for a few days. Oh, and morty, calm down man. Very few of us here are rich, but as the old saying goes, it is better to gain all of your wealth then have it handed to you.

Well shut my mouth and slap me silly if I'm wrong, BUT, isn't a Pontiac 350 a SBC or the equivalent there of ?

    Stick with what you got.

Slap on a pair of aluminum heads, a high performance intake, a double pumper 4 barrel, a mild street cam, headers, etc.

    Chevy 350 is 4.00X3.48 bore & stroke
    Pontiac 350 is 3.876 X 3.750
totally differant engines, bore spacing , bell patern, dist rotation, Buick, Chevy, Olds & Pontiac all had 350s within GM, but were all differant engines
