    What's a good chassis for a 37 Ford P/U?

     



    I am trying to help a buddy find info for a chassis to put a 37 Ford p/u body on. He has a 302 Ford engine, and limited budget. Any info or resources would be greatly appreciated.

    I built my own out of 2x4 tube. With about $130 worth of steel and $350 for a front crossmember, I had what I needed to make a frame. That was 2 years ago

    I know steel is much higher now, but the price of pre-fab frames is much higher as well.

    I was going to buy one from Fat Man Fab. before I decided to make my own. They seemed to be the best value at the time.

    I don't have a 37 ford but I have a 37 chevy and I used a AMC pacer front end that I got from the junk yard for $250.00. Works great and you have a rack and disc brakes

    There is no frame swap that will work w/your car & look rite. Some use the S-10 but, I do not care for the finished product & you have to have years of skill to pull it off. Use your stock frame & change the suspension. If you do not have a frame look for one. Remember the hunt is half the fun.
    If you do have the stk frame ask us what you can do to it.

    He has the stock frame and a 302 Ford he wants to put in it. He doesn't have a computer is why I am trying to give him a hand. He wants the usual, PS, disc brakes, decent ride etc. A friend suggested a Pinto front suspension. But we don't have a clue how to put it in.

    Sorry for all the stupid questions.

    Putting in a Pinto front end is easier than changing the frame. If you buy a kit it comes with instructions.
    I used a Pontiac Fiero front end in my old Ford. It requires a lot less welding and assembly work. It only requires a few brackets and then it's a bolt in unit. It has lower a-frames ( 2 pivot points). The pinto has a lower cotrol arm (1 pivot point) with a strut to keep them in place. a lot of people change them over to a-frames at more expense to eliminate the strut and because it looks better.
    I think the Pacer unit that Bulldogcountry used is similar and also a fairly easy installation.
