i did a similar swap to a regal 3.8 to small chevy . all i did was got a monte carlo donar car and used engine mounts and radiator. bought headers for that year monte
notched out the crossmember for the duel exhaust
the biggest part to the whole thing is get rid of that 200 metric that is probably in it and build yourself a good 350 or 400 trans."IT'S 106 MILES TO CHICAGO , WE GOT A FULL TANK OF GAS , HALF A PACK OF CIGARETTES, ITS DARK, AND WERE WEARING SUNGLASSES"
"HIT IT"

The Olds 4.3l6 is not a bad enigne. However, why are you putting a SBC in a Cutlass? Comeon man, get origional a little here. 403, 350 Oldsmobie, 330, 425/455 will all bolt in. However, if you have your heart set on it, you can do it(Sigh). Use the brackets from the 350 as the Olds brackets will not bolt on. you need a Chevy t-350. Dnt try a 400, their too heavy. I reccomend a 700R4 for your chevy due to gas prices. Trust me, OD is a must. You will have problems clearing with the factory Chevy exhaust manifolds. Get a set of headers, bend them inwards then back out to meet your exhaust, wrap the pipes to prevent body damage and youll be good. Your PS pump will work for your SBC, so just set it aside untill its time to hook it back on. You will probably need to pully from a chevy PS pump, but thats easy to come by. I think thats it, and if you need help with a SBO swap, drop another line.Right engine, Wrong Wheels

Thanks. I run a 82 cutlass with a 403, so im kind of partial. I also used to own a 72 442 that was pretty nice. Anyway, do me and a lot of other oldsmobile owners a favor. Put an Oldsmobile engine in that Cutlass. Their good engines, and its a lot cooler to see a SBO cutlass melt the tires than a SBC powered Oldsmobile.Right engine, Wrong Wheels

I wonder if that 231 would be a good spare for my '87 Olds /Corvair project?
