I got a problem with the Bluesmobile
I filled the radiator and let it run long enough to warm up the engine and checked for leaks. The coolant is ok but I saw transmission fluid leaking out and I realized I didn't put the dipstick tube back in. I turned the place upside down and I guess I lost it. I think the transmission is a turbo 350 with a long tailshaft. I'm not a hardcore Chevy guy so it could be a 400. I have a transmission that has the short tailshaft in the garage. Will the dipstick tube from this work on the tranny in the car? Or should I go scrounge the local junk yards? I posted a picture in another thread. Thanks for the help guys. It's a th 700 4r transmission. I tried the dipstick tube form the th350 but it didn't fit so I plugged the hole with a sparkplug till I find the right one. While I was under it I noticed it wasn't all trans fluid leaking. I think the rear seal on the crank is leaking. I have to pull the engine back out. I wont have time for that for a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll just park it and finish th 69 Caddy. It's a 4 door HT with a 472 engine. It needs paint but I already got most of the prep work done. Till then I'm stuck with the Aerostar van.
Now with the bluesmobile on hold I finally got some free time to work on the roadster. I pulled out the 39 Ford dash that I cut down to fit and sandblasted and primered it. I'm using the 39 banjo style steering wheel too. I filled all the cracks and primered that too. I have to decide on a color soon. Flat black is no longer under consideration. There's too many red roadsters. I'm thinking maybe a nice bright green metallic. I'll try it on the dash and post a picture.Last edited by The Al Show; 06-05-2004 at 05:18 PM.
