Caprice rear axle ??
Ok gearheads, I've been stumped on this one. I need to replace the rear axle bearing on a 92 caprice rear. when I pulled the back cover to access the c-clip, I found myself looking at a cluster of 4 springs on one side on the spiders, and 2 springs sandwiched between 2 steel plates on the other set of spiders. this setup is different than the S-shaped spring clips that I'm used to seeing on posi units.
How does one get to the c-clip on these axles? If I snap out the springs, I see no way to ever compress them enough to re-install.
Thanks in advance. Alex

From what I can see in the manual & working from memory you do it just as you would all of em,cept you don't have as much room, seems to me we used a pencil magnet to get the clips out and I'm pretty sure you'll need another set of hands to push on the axle flange..... Hope this helps........ P.S. I know we never had to pull the springs out.....
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
