    Street Rods W/manual shift transmission

I would like to read some responses from folks that have street rods with manual shift transmissions. What brand of trans mission, how many speed. What kind of linkage used. What kind of clutch pedal. Hydraulic or linkage. Are the pedals coming up through the floor or hanging.

I'm starting a new project pickup truck and I want to shift gears.

OK, but folks might be able to give better info if you let us know what kind of truck and what motor you're looking at.

This is a bit old-school, considering all of the 5 and 6-speed manual transmissions out there today. Mine was an A-bone with BB Chevy and Ford top-loader 4-speed. I used a Lakewood hydroformed adapter bellhousing. Clutch and brake pedal set mounted to the frame under the floor. No real linkage was required - just a straight rod from the clutch pedal to the throw-out fork. A hydraulic would work fine - I just didn't need it. I used a Hurst V-Gate shifter.

I think I have a photo at home. If I can find it, I'll post it.

Here's the photo. It was a Mr. Gasket instead of a Hurst V-Gate. Excellent shifter, though.

It's a little hard to see from this angle, but I think you get the idea. Note that the clutch/brake assembly is welded to the frame. The brake pedal actuating rod goes directly into the master cylinder. I welded a stud onto the clutch fork, and used a clevis and rod assembly back to the clutch pedal. Of course, all this depends on where everything sits. This layout worked really well for me.
