Thanks guys, I think the socket is built right into the lense housing bracket which is bolted to the sheet of tin that fills the gap between the car itself and the bumper. It's the only non functional light now cause I got the 1 back up light that didn't work although I need the correct bulb ( 1's there now is meant for the liscense plate light ).You don't know what you've got til it's gone

You mean the whole mount or the socket itself, the socket may be part of the mount but I'm not shure, I could cut it out of the mount though and press a new 1 in.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I do remember seing a seam when I looked underneath so I could tap it out from above and put a new 1 in from below and still use the same mount and lense and cover assembly. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I bought a socket and 6 volt bulb whail I was in the finger lakes region, It's small enough that it will fit right inside the old socket and I'll run the positive wire down through the hole where the psitive nub is ( it's loose I just have to pry it out ) and the ground will make contact where it's suppose to. I also bought a polisher at a lawn sale for 10$, I'm going to use it to polish aluminum. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I got a new socket for the liscene plate and a 6 volt bulb for it ( Ds55 or somthing ) and I put it all togther and modded the ground contacts so they made contact, I didden't even have to remove the old socket just, hammered out the bottom of it with a screwdriver so the new socket sit lower in the mount and it worked quite well. My mom made me get an extra bulb but, I found out that the glove box light used the same light bulb so I removed the blown 1 and replaced it so now that even works and I just got to get a bulb for the dome light that fits but I know it works cause it lights up when you hold a bulb in it just, the retaning prongs on the bulbs I was using were too far twords the glass and woulden't go in the lock grooves. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
