Need a little more to be able to help you. Can you post a picture? Any identifying casting logo's on it.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

It should say on the front plate what brand it is. It's probably built by Holley, Holley builds Weiand, B/M and Holly.
Might go to there web site and look at there pictures and there list of blowers and see if any match. www.holley.com

Okay 33,
That would be a Detroit Diesel blower from 71 or 53 series, 2 cycle diesel engine. Still has the factory colors on it. Best way to positive I.D. it would be to find the local dealer for D.D. GM used to own the company, but Roger Penske bought it about 12 or so years ago. They're now more of a 4 cycle diesel engine company. Still plenty of those older models around though. It's a little tough for me to judge the scale of the photo, but I think yours would be from a four or perhaps a six cylinder engine. They are modest out put for air volume. Back when, guys used to convert these for racing use. It took modifying the rotors, different end plates for support and drive functions, and some other minor tweeks. You would have to dig around some to come up with the parts to make it functional for a street or vintage race machine. The cost to do so would escalate to a point most likely beyond the cost of a purpose built blower such as Weiand, Littlefield, BDS, B&M, etc.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Please Tell me more. I just scored a 6V-53 blower and I am half way through fitting it to my 4 barrell 318 chrysler. I still have to machine up some sort of drive mechanism but it is bolted to the manifold with a 780 vac sec on top. Please don't tell me I have wasted my time.
P.S. it owes me nothing yet. just labour.Motorsport, 'cause all other sports only require 1 ball

I built an adaptor plate to bolt directly to the manifold as is. the blower bolts to it. how much do I need to take off the rotors and why. (I'm an amatuer in the world of forced induction).Motorsport, 'cause all other sports only require 1 ball

4-53 blower
Hello, you have a 4-53 Detroit Diesel blower there. It pumps 139 cubic inches per revolution. These work great on old Ford flatheads, and engines up to about 350 c.i.d.
We build components for the blower you have, and can locate items from time to time for small block Chevy's and such that would work with this blower. Right now, we do not have any Chevy part for this blower (at the time of this post).
We do however build billet bearing plates and carb adaptors for this blower and 6-53 blowers.
Anyone who wants to know what size they may have, can visit our site also and click on the "Blowers - 101" link in the menu.
I have a page there that I built to help out with figuring out sizes without going through the part number maze GM created with all of their blowers.
Here is my site
http://www.fordflathead.com
Good usefull info for all blowers of all sizes there.
Thanks, Lain
