What year steering columns are interchangeable with a 1965 El Camino?
I want to convert my 65 El Camino from a 2 speed auto on the column to a 3 speed auto on the column. Someone told me that 64-68 GM "A" Body cars are interchangeable, but I don't trust his word. Can anyone help? Just in case it matters, my car has a 327 with Power steering, and a bench seat. Thanks a lot.

why dont you just put a 65 column out of a impala or a belair if you can find one but yes 64 to 68 should work but just in case the plugin are diffrent cut the wires pass the plug as far as you can so when you pull the column the plug on both side are still connected so lf you have to splice your color coded wire you need will be there . ps and if you find one with the shift on the column with tilt let me knowdrive it like ya stole it

Thanks for the reply. I found a column out of a 1968 Impala. Are 64-68 "B" bodys interchangeable with 64-68 "A"s? Thanks.
