    Question front brake grabs

i havew a 53 chevy panel truck, with a 67 chevelle power booster master cylinder and proportioning valve setup under the hood. my front brakes are very quick to lock up, the passenger side being first to lock up. tried all kinds of adjusting to counteract this problem. back wheels feel as if they're not grabbing at all. my goal is to have the vehicle stop evenly and smoothly throughout. open to suggestions. also, front end is stock, but the rear is from 1986 chevy pickup, if that makes any difference.(brake drums are different)

Odd that 1 side grabs before the other side on the front. Simple question I know but are they assembled right? I once had a customer bring a drum brake car in they tried to do a brake job on themselves. They had it assembled wrong. It was many years ago and I don't remember exactly what they had wrong, but when you tap the brakes they would lock up. Do you have any wheel cylinder leaks? Passenger side front may be grabbing first because driver's side front has wet brake linings? Just a couple ideas to add to Tech's thought about not needing the proportioning valve with that setup.
