    Lightbulb rack&pinon steering

     



    want to put rack&pinon steering on my 82 olds cutlas supreme.i have put an big block 427 chevy.with my serp. belt the power steering pump hits steering gear box.i am looking for an mount for rack&pinon to buy or way to build one.

    Thats kind of a math problem. It can be done I'm sure with out the use of MII, but it will have probs. I dont think the rack has enough turning radius, lock to lock to get you full radius out of your wheels. Unless you moved the tie rod ends closer to center on the spindle arm. In other words I think the typical rack has 5" or so of travel, your cutlass around 7". Also the tie rod will not travel the same arc as the A-arms through all positions causing some bumpsteer and loss of ackerman at the least. I can get you some links a little later and sure someone else has some, huh guys?

    TAHNKS TECHINSPECTOR1.I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT.I DID NOT THINK ABOUT SOME THING SIMPLE AS THAT.BUT I FOUND IF I USED AN TALLER MOTOR MOUNT TO GET THE ROOM I NEEDED.
