    Dead PERCH

    Hey guys, quick question.
With respect to a "dead perch". If I use one of these items do I need a Front Panhard bar. Are they, one or the other, items?

    Also which one is better?

    Cheers

One or the other but not both. I know why but I can not explain it.

Thanks Bib, I suppose the result of having both fitted would be a "difference of two arcs".....if thats how you explain it. I currently have no mount for a Panhard on my chassis so i guess I will go for the dead perch. I am still wondering which one is better though. The dead perch just seems to easy.

With a dead perch your main leaf acts as a panhard rod. In exteme situations the main leaf might not be as good as a panhard rod due to the fact that it flexes but I doubt you will ever notice the difference on the street. The dead perch is a cleaner looking installation too.

One other thing. You will get a tighter arc with the dead perch since it's funtional length is from the spring mount to the spring eye. If you made a panhard rod that was longer...say from the left bat wing to a mount under the right frame side rail you would lessen the arc. Less arc is a good thing as it reduces the amount the front axle will move sideways as it travels up and down.
