    So many choices

Well, it would appear that my Warlock mufflers have rusted through. Anyone suggestions? And no,......... I don't want mufflers that will help you catch me!

I am looking for a pair of 3 inch in and out. I am leaning towards the Flowmasters' 40 style. Any ideas?

    I run a SBC 406 with 575 n/a and another 225 via juice........

Flowmaster 40 series sound pretty good for small blocks. It all depends on what kind of sound you like. They are not too bad. Also check out Hooker mufflers... I never heard the Hooker ones but you should go see if you can hear them somewhere like on their site maybe. But the Flowmaster 40's series are nice.

Hey hell, I am more concerned about performance than sound, ...not that I don't enjoy thunder, heheheh! So I am wondering about little to none back pressure. DO you know any of the performance numbers on any mufflers?

I don't know the numbers but on flowmasters site I think they have a number chart on there... Anyways they have the hooker mufflers from 2"-3". There's two different ones... The Aero Chamber which is supposed to flow up to 441 cfm of exaust gas and then there is the Maximum flow that flows 595 cfm of gas. So looks like the Maximum one would be something you are looking for. Also check out Dyno Max, I hear lots of good things about those and they sound pretty good as well. I see a lot of Edelbrock mufflers too but they are mostly for street applications and flow about 116-200 cfm they say. Borla is another brand to check into. For my car I am thinking about going with Hooker mufflers but I wan't to check out more before I just go out and make a choice. Your best bet is to try and go on each site and see if they have a flow chart or anything. If not then just pick a brand and go with it.

I looked up the Hooker mufflers and I am interested in the 21505 HKR or 21506 HKR. I am not sure what the difference is, but I will investigate.

My son recently installed the Flowmaster 40s and he loves the sound, many people ask him if it is a big block.

You mentioned that those mufflers flow 595cfm, but what do you think of these numbers?

Now that's a TON!!! I talked to some other guys with some hot rods (old guys in their 60's) and they were telling me the a lot of people will get exhaust (big 4 inch or so) and they try to get rid of all backpressure but they said that you wan't to have some backpressure and that it's not always good to try and not have backpressure... Now I am not sure if they were right or knew what they were talking about because I never heard such a thing but maybe someone on here will put their input on this...
    Anyone?

Borla makes a OK sounding muffler, but their a bit pricey. Glass packs are an option if you dont have to worry about sound ordinances. Personally(probably cause im cheap) I tend to run Thrush turbo mufflers. Their quiet enough, they stay on till I sell the car usually and they flow fairly well.

Does Dynomax sound like Flowmasters on a 454 or 350? I have heard them on this kids Trans Am and they sounded ok. But I am just wondering. I want to see what kind I would be interested in and so far it's hooker but I wan't a loud rumble sound but I don't wan't to run straight headers or pipes. Streets were you being serious about what you said or does that really work?
