    hanging doors

Is it best to hang the doors and get the latches and hinges all trued up WITH or WITHOUT the weatherstripping in?
    does it matter?
I saw on "Trucks" that he got his doors all set up without any weatherstripping and said that it is fine to do that.
    Is this true?
Also, I've heard phosphoric acid is best to soak latch mechanisms in to dissolve all the crud. Can hydrochloric be used too?
If not, where does one find Phosphoric Acid?

If theres such a thing left anymore I beleive you can get phosphoric acid from your local corner pharmacy..Or just look in the yellow pages under chemicals....and yes line the doors up without the weatherstrip.....

Here is an old hotrodders trick that is relatively inexpensive and works well. Make up a solution of 1 part molasses to 5 parts of water and soak your mechanisms in that. There is an acid in molasses that will remove the rust, and not harm the good metal. I have known of guys who bought a childs plastic wading pool and mixed up large enough batches to clean the rust off of model A Ford fenders. It works slowly, (as in not too aggresive), but you don't want to dissolve the whole darn mechanism.

I work at a concrete precast plant and I borrowed a jug of concrete cleaner. It is a mixture of hydrochloric acid and some other type of acid. It works fast so you can't let the thing sit in there for more than a half hour or so, plus I mixed it half with water. It is fantastic for small parts though.
