I have done this before, before the EPA closed most of these businesses down. Worked good for me, make sure whoever is doing it neutralizes the acid, then I used to get some etch primer on everything as soon as I got the car home and got everything scrubbed again. Saves a ton on time and material stripping the car, cleans out all the nooks and crannys, too.

had a friend who operated a dipping tank.........make sure ALL pot metal and non steel stuff is off...........or it WILL be when ya get car back!!.It eats those parts......also , as said before.......make sure to get acid out of all grevices and seal metal as soon as possible or rust starts in hours.

    Caution-Caution- CAUTION!

getting the creases, nooks and crannies neutralized is nearly impossible!

Yes everything looks great all nice and clean & shiney...but try and find a car that has been done for a couple of years.

I've seen where they rust from the inside out...and then you won't be very happy after all the bodywork and nice paint start to blister.

I say dipping is fine on pieces with no seams. do more research !

I would also suggest caution when it comes to acid dipping. There are many pockets that can't be reached except by dipping. This includes sealing the car once it's stripped.

This is fine for a car going down the assembly line being dipped in primer and rust inhibitors, but a paint spray gun will not get there. The car can rust from the inside out. It can also leak stripper from areas you were unable to neutralize, ruining a new paint job.

My suggestion is to media blast the body shell and dip seperate pieces.
