When all else fails, use a bigger hammer but if that don't work how bout a hack saw, cuttin torch, plasma cutter, yanking on the shifter, heating the pin up slightly.

Flip a can of spray duster upside down, get a st and stick near the nozzle, heat the outside up ( what the pin's in ) with a lighter, nothing more then spray directly onto the pin with the straw, this should in turn make the hole where the pin goes bigger and then try punchin it out.

If its anything like an early ford I usually just cut that little knob right off and fill the hole with body filler and smooth away at it like it was never there...

hey john if its a roll pin in it, it should drive out. you might need to put something on the back side to keep it from bouncing so bad, something to make the shifter more solid. no heat
