It's hard to beat a Alpine head unit. The glove box is not the best place to mount a head unit from a safety point........unless you never change volumn or stations.
How about making or buying a box for under the dash use.Don Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).

I made my box, I didn't want to cut out the dash to put it in so I made a box that cradles the transmission hump cause I have a colume and a colume shifter, I stuck 2 roadmaster preboxed speakers behind the seat and called it good because it's jutst my daily driver and I didn't want to cut anything apart, and the original AM still works. Why do you need a good stereo, when you'v got a 352 you can listen to?You don't know what you've got til it's gone

My advice is to mount it on top of the dash and then make a sealed box. Unless you have a lot of people stealing radios where you live. Then go with the under-dash bolt up. With the 63, you should have a panel for a radio though. Why not just use that? Radios back then were Huge!Right engine, Wrong Wheels

My System...
Here is my set-up...
2 - 3.5" Cadence ZX351 Series Two-Way Coaxial
2 - 5.25" Cadence ZX551 Series Two-Way Coaxial
2 - 8" Cadence Mallet Subwoofers
1 - 12" Cadence WB12-2sub Wild Beast Sub
2 - Cadence Z5000 Series Amps
1 - Cadence CAP-1R Stiffening Capacitor
I am using a Pioneer Head unit with built-in EQ and 4 chanel 40 watt built-in amp...
I used the head unit to power the 3.5 and 5.25s at 40 watts per... Used one of the Z5000s to power the pair of 8s and the other to poer the 12... The Z5000s are rated at 750 watts each...
My suggestion would be to ditch the 6x9s if you are planning on going with the big subs, no reason to have the three-way coalials... You would be better off to either use 4 two-way coaxials or individual mids and tweets... If you can find a head unit with built-in power you can power the tweets and maybe even the mids with that and save you amps for the bass... You don't need a whole lot of power to push the small speakers 35-50 watts per channel should do... Also the size of your amps will be determined by the size of your subs... You didn't mention exactly how big you are planning on going on the subwoofers, if you plan on going with a pair of 10 or larger and only a single battery I would definately suggest using a capacitor...
If you are planning on trying to hide your head unit, you can mount your head unit wherever you like, and use a remote...
Hope this helps...

Another photo...
Here is a photo that shows the head unit and you can see the install on the kick-panel speakers... There are also speakers mounted under the dash and behind the seats...

In the F100 I have glasspacks , and in the Continetal Diamond Anniversary (1996 Lincoln) I have an Alpine with CD player and remote, Jensen 6x9's in the rear, Jensen 6 inchers in the front doors and tweeters on the door. Good sounds in both vehicles.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 11-15-2004 at 10:28 AM.

The Lincoln. Unfortunately someone wanted the 20 inchers worse than I did I guess. Had to put the original wheels back on. Though the insurance more than paid for new tires for them even after the deductible.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 11-17-2004 at 10:10 AM.

Do you think it would be a good or bad idea to put the subs and speakers in one big custom fit box on the back floor w/the amps in top?

Also can any one tell me where i can get a steering wheel like this

Speaker set-up...
To get the best sound it is good to get as many of the speakers as possible mounted in the front of the vehicle... Also the pressure generated by the Subs will distort the sound of the mids and his if they are all mounted in the same box... If you are going to mount multi speakers in one box it is best to do that with the subs...
Never seen a steering wheel like that one before...
Hope this helps...
