Isn't the S-10 blazer rear end "wider" than the S-10 truck? If so, willl the S-10 blazer rear end fit under the S-10 long body frame?
This is to all you good people: I did not want to "muddy" the waters asking about an S-10 frame swap as that has been discussed before in this forum. I have "decided?" that I want to pursue this approach. My understanding was that the S-10 blazer rear end was the proper width to fit under my 49 chevy
AND was wider than the S-10 truck rear end AND that it was almost a direct bolt on for S-10 truck frame. (I could almost certainly be wrong about all of that). IF
the S-10 blazer front end parts would swap to the long bed S-10 truck frame,
(and TooMany2count says they will), all I have to rember when something goes bad is tell the parts guy "I need a thingamajig for a 19xx S-10 blazer".
Now, if you could tell me what's wrong with my facts, I am all ears.

well the 4x4 s10 blazer are suppose to be wider then a s10 p/u, BUT i have one & it sure doesnt look any wider under my panel/burb/school bus thats why i suggested a different rearend. mine w/tire a on 8 inch rims is basicly about 1 inch from the wheelwells in the rear. the blazer rearend will bolt rite into the s10 frame... my 1 question is this???? why do ya want to know if blazer parts will work when s10 parts will & do work just fine.. the only parts i would use to upgrade it is the 2000 & up s10 blazer spindles & late model camaro hubs, w/these you can use from 10inch to 14inch rotors... & do go to the s10 forum & ask questions just to be sure.. doesnt hurt to have TOO MUCH info....joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

If I remember correctly, the S-10 2 wheel drive rear end is 56.5 inches wide, (drum to drum) whereas the S-15 Jimmy 4X4 is 59 inches wide. I think there is a 2.5 inch difference. If you can squeeze 59.5 inches under the wheel wells, and if you want a beefyer rear end, the Mustang 8.8 is the ticket.Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

Thanks for the USbody site. After going through it I got a couple a bright ideas for my F100 to get an updated and better riding chassis. Of course it'll have to wait til next spring when it gets warmer.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 11-29-2004 at 05:33 PM.

Re: s10 truck/s10 blazer suspension swap
There is a difference in the rear axle widths. The 1982-97 S10 Blazers have a rear axle that is 2.5" narrower then the same year pickups by 3/8", this width is 56.5". The 1998-UP Blazer and Pickup use an axle width of 59", they all use 28 spline 7.5" GM corporate axle asemblies. The front suspension parts for a 2 wheel drive use coil springs and the parts are interchangable (as far as I can find). The ZR5 parts are unique (widerwheel stance - front) and have some diferences that may not allow them to interchange without modifications.
All 2 wheel drive S10's use coil springs in the front, 4 wheel drives use torsion bars.

I got this answer to the rear end width of S-10 blazers/S-10 trucks from PartsMike.com.
This explanation of the many different rear end widths does explain the many different answers I have been given.
However, I'll give all y'all one more chance to "set me straight" on the width of an S-10 blazer or truck.

I only gave you one answer- yes it will work, although that was to your orignal question. During this thread you have twisted your inquery twice from that, so you either are looking for a fight, or have no idea of what you are asking. The latter I doubt, so please don't bother posting anymore questions that you hope to get an answer to from anyone here that has any knowledge of you.
Is that straight enough?
If you need further directions I can tell you where to go also.Jim
