Lowered Nova
I want to drop the front on my Nova . I want to pull the coils out and cut 1/2 of a coil . My question is how do I go about it ? This is what I know , put a jack under the a arm for safety , unhook front stab. bar , unhook ball joint's with a pickle fork , unhook shock's . Is there anything else that could help me? I've never done it and I want to do it right. Thanks for any help.

Borrow or rent a spring compressor. The jack will keep the spring in place, but when you let off the jack to get it out, it can come flying out, and can be really dangerous. Putting springs back in without a compressor can be a lot of fun too.
The compressors are basically just threaded rods with a couple of hooks to capture the coils.

And don't cut the coil with a torch. You'll kill the heat treat in the spring. Use a cut-off wheel on a die grinder.Jack

SInce this is not likely a frequently needed tool, check your local Autozone. They have tools to loan out and I bet they have a spring compressor. Can't beat the price (free!).
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
