    Coil spring problem

I was removing coil spring from a 65 thunderbird. The spring "jumped" off the spring compressor and is now wedged between the upper arm and the body. The tool is also jammed inside the spring. Any suggetions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    spring

It,s hard to say what to do because I am not right there looking at it. But from what you decribed you have quite a problem there. What ever you do be real carefull at this point . If the spring is still under pressure it still could snap out again .try using tie straps to hold it in place and a crowbar or pipe to loosen it . BE CAREFULL!!! get some help and stay out of the way if the spring cuts loose . You have to get it out now you have no choice. Good luck , take your time and think about what you are doing before you jump into it.You should be able to get it out.

This all sounds like it's going along about typical.

Do indeed follow 327"s admonishments. Study the situation(you know, turn off the blaring radio) think about how the spring can get out and where it will go. Don't be there. Often you can sneak a stout piece of bailing wire thru one of the coils and then around a stout suspension/axel point.

Sorry I'm not there to help. If you really can't figure it out snap a few digital pics and stick em in here. We will gladly advise.

Thanks for the input. I ended up securing the spring with a piece of pipe. Then I torched the spring until I got most of the tension out. Then I cut it and removed. Obviously, the real point is: If your messing around with these coil springs even with the correct tool BE CAREFUL AND PAY ATTENTION!

    Again thanks for the response.

I'll be back with some front end conversion questions soon.
