    Zerk

The clearance around the grease zerks on my Super Bell front axle is too tight to get a grease gun on the 4 kingpin zerks. Anyone have an idea about a gun with a smaller tip - or a zerk with a longer spud? The current zerks are 1/4 - 28 thread.

All I can find around here are drive in zerks and ricer parts.

In a similar situation I've installed a 45 degree head zerk, if I had any extras I'd send them to you. I get them from a local Car Quest store.

Well, the 45 degree zerks half worked. In the top bosses, the were fint - but kind of ugly on an exposed front axle. When I installed the lower ones, they ended up pointing in the wrong direction. I got around the problem by installing a 45 loosely in each boss, pumping in the grease, then removing the 45 and installing the old short zerk.

I'm thinking about getting an extended zerk of some kind, removing the shorty zerks and installing plugs after I grease the axle. It would look smoother that way anyhow.

I sent an email to Pete and Jakes, since it's a Super Bell axle. I assume they've run into this problem before.

    Denny,

Thanks for the offer, but let's wait and see what the Super Bell folks have to say.

    Denny,

Thanks. You gave me a couple of ideas. Also, Jason Slover (P&J) answered my email already. They use a needle also. Alemite B6783.

Oh, now you're just showing off...

Well, zerk does rhyme with jerk, but I can't imagine why the two would be used together...After all, a zerk is useful, and a jerk is, well, you get the idea...
