I HAVE A 53 MERC, LAST YEAR W/ KINKPINS, AND I FLIPPED THEM WHEN I WAS DOING A SUSP REBUILD. IT GAVE ME A LITTLE MORE THAN A 2" DROP...I WANT MORE. WHAT ADJUSTMENTS, IF ANY SHOULD I MAKE IF I CUT THE SPRINGS FOR ABOUT 4 MORE INCHES OF DROP ????

Give Jamco a call and get a set of dropped springs. I cut the springs in my fullsize GMC and I can't seem to get the truck to sit level side to side. If you do cut the springs do no more than a coil and a half. On my truck that gave me 2.5" of drop. Besides after all these years your stock springs have probably sagged and you won't ever be satisfied with the ride.

Yeah thanks. I spent a little more. I went whole hog. I got the strong arms from Air Ride Technologies. I want my truck to handle like a very large Corvette.

If you do buy the springs be careful putting them in and measure before and after. I ordered a set and put them in and didnt measure. The drop with spindles was only four inches. I realized this after about a month. I ordered another set but didn't use them. I always wanted airide and I had the chance do it.

Don't cut the springs. The car is too heavy and springs too old. Just suck it up and fork out some money. You will be happier in the end if you go this route. I got these dropped springs to dro my 85 chevy pickup 2 inches. I plan to put them on this week sometime. By the way Lon here gave them to me. Thanks Lon! Lon, those strongarm bags are those the newer kind from Air Ride Tech? I heard on the show "Trucks" they made newer kinds for cars and trucks with more horsepower so you can use them at the strip without worrying to bust a bag. I need a really strong bag for my 48 when I start it this winter.

I'm not sure about the strength of the bags themselves. You can get diffrent load ratings, and on some you can get them with metal end caps. On your 48 the standard springs will work fine. What airride is doing is making kits for cars that handle and do more than lay out for show. Which is why I'm using the strong arms. And a really big sway bar.
