suspension conversion
Hey how are ya? I'm new to the group, i hope I don't look too dumb. I've got a 66 Ford Fairlane 500 with a 289. I'm looking at rebuilding the front suspension and I wondered if I should look at maybe one of the conversion kits from a mustang II with the tubular a-arms and the rack and all the other bells and whistles. I looked at the kit and you have to remove the shock towers and cut on the car some. Is this kind of conversion overkill for a pretty much around town grocery getter? I would probably want to convert to disc brakes later on and maybe dropped spindles. I also don't like the stock power steering set-up all that much. Will cutting the shock towers out and the other mods hurt my cars value very much? Thanks a bunch for your time i really apreciate it.

Hi T sounds like a real great ride u got there, Ive always had a weakness for Fairlanes. I had a 63 Sport Coupe 289 4 speed with buckets and console, had it for 10 years drove it everywhere. Asfor your suspension, there is a bolt in rack and pinion kit and the discs from a early stang will bolt on if u dont want to cut the car up. Also Granada discs bot on.Choose your battles well===If it dont go chrome it
Thank you Roger. .
