shocks ok at a 180 degrees
I have to move my shocks that I mounted at a 45 degree angle last year because of exhaust and sway bar clearance along with a new SS 18 gallon gas tank. Is it ok to mount the rear shocks straight up and down or should they have some angle to them?Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

It's ok, a bit of an angle is preferred, but if there's no room, there's no room. Heck, the rear shocks on the old Firebird's and Camaro's were vertical.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

In the angled position they serve to control some side to side movement, so you would be losing that. Like Dave said, the angle is preferred. Angled also serves as sway bars of sorts.
I would try to get them angled, at least a little.

It should work then. The leaf springs should be enough to contain the side to side movement. If controlling body lean becomes a concern, I've used a rear sway bar with very good results on leaf spring rears......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
