Thumbs down Help in adjusting front aldan coil over shocks

I purchased a 9.00 dollar spanner wrench to adjust the ride height on my 34 coupe with Heit IFS. I am not the strongest at 68 but the wrench slips off and clearance is a problem. Should I compress the spring, before adjusting or what? I need to raise it about 2 Inches. It is at the bottom position now. I am learning all over as it's been 40 yrs since I built my last car.Is there a trick to this adjustment I don't know about.

    Thanks for any help

    What Bill said !!!!!!!!!!
Ya can't turn em with the weight of the car on em,and if you succeed it usually strips the threads on the shock body.....

Thanks Bill, that works. I think i have the wrong size wrench.as it slips off .I did one took about an hour.I am going to order the full set of wrenches then I'll have the right size.

I usually put a small amount of anti-seize on the coilover adjustment threads. Aluminum corrodes quickly and the anti-seize tends to keep the threads usable.....
