Ford 9 Inch Question
I have a line on a 9 inch rear from a late sixties Ford truck. Its approx 54 inches from backing plate to backing plate, cost $200. I want to use it in my 55 Chevy build for the 1/4 mile. I'm thinking the width is right and it should be a fairly simple install. Any thoughts, pitfalls or advice? Thanks.

the old 9s do not have good parts for hp use but if for mild use they are ok i think this may be a bit to short. 60 to 61 hub to hub is what i think you need .i only measure them hub to hub and some of that old ford brake parts are hard to find you are much better off getting some thing newer and cutting it ot fit and the pinion can then be on centerLast edited by pat mccarthy; 05-12-2006 at 09:31 PM.

Ford 9s are good because you can change center sections easily, parts are plentiful, and they are stronger than most other types.
