Coil Over Adjustment
My '33 has rear coil overs, and I need to raise the left side about .5". I've never adjusted a coil over. Are the spanner wrenches common, or does each mfr have a different wrench? Where can I find the correct adjustment procedure? And, were can I locate the correct wrench? Thanks.

First do a good inspection and make sure no mounts are bent .
I just recieved my heidts and a zip strip was used on the shaft for shock travel. As far as spanners go you can make one very easy to fit shock. Just use cardboard make a template of the shocks radius and add a tab by welding that fits slot with a handle about 6 to 8 inch's long. You can purchase spanners the right size at tool store's. And obviously, loosen the little set screw(s) before you begin and tighten after you are done. They are sometimes in a hidden position, and I thought you might miss seeing them.

Pete and Jakes has a universal spanner. It works fine. There's no real procedure to follow. Just take the weight off of the axle, or the adjustment is a real bear. Move the adjusting ring up or down to get the ride height you want. However, adjusting to maximum height (ring all the way up) may not be a good idea because it limits shock travel somewhat.

I got rear leaf on 32 Sedan real, no shocks yet, do you suggest coilovers?

If you mean coilovers with leaf springs, nope. That's like a belt and suspenders. You don't need both if one of the two is in good condition. If you want coilovers, pull out the leaf springs and install a triangulated 4-bar. Otherwise, just install a good pair of shocks.
By the way, they don't all have set screws. Some have double adjusting rings that you lock together like a double nut on a stud.Last edited by Henry Rifle; 01-20-2007 at 04:01 PM.
