suspension
OK. I have a 82 camaro with stock suspension and currently have no problems with traction. However, I will be upgrading my power plant (400 hp 355 to a 550-575hp 408). I am currently running a very short tire (26" x 10") and I am afraid that I will be unable to get my car to hook. I just recently purchased some Lakewood Traction Action Lift Bars and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this set up. My goal was not to make major modifications to the rear suspension and the Lakewood bolts straight in using the stock suspension. Any help, advice or previous experience would be greatly apreciated.

Don't know how much horsepower that little rear end is going to be able to take. Putting a 9" and a 4 link in mine, didn't even think it was worth bothering with the light duty metric rear..... Maybe they will take more horsepower then it looks like they can.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Sorry
Sorry, I forgot to mention thst I will be upgrading the 7 3/4 rear with 26 spline axles to a GM 8 3/4" with 33 spline axles. My plan was to put the original suspension onto the 8 3/4". Maybe my thinking is a little off on this one?????

No, the GM unit would be plenty strong I believe. I just prefer the 9" rears because of the ease of gear changes once it's installed. There are lots of good pieces to replace the torque arm and lower bars if they aren't up to the increase power. Maybe a set of frame ties, too????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Scott, I found the link I was looking for. These guys have some really first rate parts. I've installed them on a couple different projects, they fit good and work even better!!!!!! sales@umiperformance.comYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
