Bentley Front Suspension
I have a 1946 Bentley that I converted to a streetrod. The front suspension is stock with the shocks being the lever-action type I believe the're called. They need to be rebuilt, as it feels like I hit a pothole with every small bump, but the technology would still be 1946.....I'd like to upgrade to one of the bolt on type shocks but not sure which one would work. I don't weld so that's why I'm looking for a bolt on conversion. I kept the steering on the RH side but that shouldn't interfere anyway. Any help or suggestions here would be appreciated.

Lever Action Shocks
If you're interested in rebuilding your lever action shocks, you might try A-1 Shock Absorber Co. Chicago. Their phone number is 800-344-1966. Another possibility: Apple Hydraulics, Calverton NY. They are at 800-882-7753. Or: Lever Shocks, Seattle WA, at 888-288-6234. Good luck with the exotic rod!

Happy to see a Bently owner on the site. You are not going to find a bolt on kit for that car, but it would be a simple job for a fabrication shop to weld in shock mounts. I had a 53 Bently & currently have a 66 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.
I drove both cars for a while leaving them stock. The Bentley was rt hand drive & the suspension was in need of a rebuild . I replaced it with a 76 Caddy sub-frame (same as a Camaro but with bigger bakes). I also changed to a tilt Camaro steering column & master cylinder. It turned out to be a nice driving car. The Rolls I placed on a modified 1985 El Camino frame.
Keep us imformed as to what you do.....
I just noticed you a from Port C. If you need help let me know.Last edited by Don Meyer; 03-10-2007 at 05:31 AM.
