Is this unsafe?
I bought a mmll crossmember and when it got here I found this. The upper part where the a-arm goes not to bad but, the lower part scares me. Can I
make this work by running some weld over the pitting or maybe gussets to make it stronger? Thanks.
I hope the pix show up a couple of post down.Last edited by 48thames; 05-16-2007 at 03:47 AM.

I'd look, but I really don't want to sign up with msn com to do so. If you'll post a photo in the thread, I'll take a look.Jack

I wouldn't worry too much about the pitting, other than you may need to arc weld it with 6011 rod to burn through the rust. Hank

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if I needed to cut out the bad part and replace the metal or just weld over the pits or if it is even worth fixing.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
