Suspension Books
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a book for someone who just knows the basics of suspensions. I would like more just a "this is what a _____ looks like", and more of a book that explains the theory behind them. I have decided to go with a parralel leaf setup for my rear end, but would like to know more about all the suspensions and how they work.
I saw a page from a book that was from some "suspension class", but can't seem to find it again. That was more along the lines of what I wanted to find.
Thanks, Ron

Spend a minute and research Chris Alston's stuff. He does not walk on water and will tell you that up front. I do like his dilegence in helping the little guy out when figuring the geometry of the set-up. Four bars, leafs, ladders, etc. Big help. And there are other authors to dig into their psychy and expand your knowledge base as well. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

YES! I saw your post on the guy who wants his 32 to "hook up" and that's exactly what I am looking for. Where can I purchase that book that your diagram was scanned from? That would be great. Does it just cover 4links or does it go into other suspensions as well? I downloaded his catalog last night hoping that the information was in there, but didn't find it...of course the dang thing IS 170 pages, so I didn't get to look through the entire thing. Thanks a lot there Nitro! - Ron

I learned quite a lot from reading Dave Morgan's stuff.....

Good one Richard. Morgan's available for purchase stuff is well worth the price. Ron, keep reading up. Not everything a person needs to know will be available from a single scource, so it's worth the time to dig in. My stuff I offered for Billsbird was shop material from Alston's classes. I'm not sure that I have run across anything so quickly comprehensive as some of the things we learned while we attended those classes. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

Thanks guys. I'll keep looking. I guess anyone can follow some instructions that come with a kit, but I'm the kinda guy that always sits in the back and says at the end...."um, why does that do that"...you guys hated me in school.

Thats just two of the many.
Check over at pro-touring.com and look at the hardcore suspension thread in the suspension section. There is ALOT of info there. Otherwise do a search there or at Lateralg.net.

Thanks guys, there's a lot of good information at some of those sites! Just what I was looking for!
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
