does volume help???
Been a fun day in the garage, no interruptions!!!!! Anyway, considering the brake system for a couple of my projects. Both will see some harsh treatment, track time, and maybe even some hi speed running...
Anyway, my question is this. Will increased volume in a braking system do anything other then just create the need for more brake fluid??? I know the factory used 3/16" brake lines for years on street cars... I'm wondering if using 1/4" line and -4 fittings and hoses on both cars just cuz I have to build the braking system, and bigger should be better right???? Or am I just considering options that don't really make any difference?????
Oh yeah, if it matters both cars will be non-power brake systems with a brake pedal, dual master cylinders, line lock, and a bias adjuster bar.... 4 wheel disc brakes on both cars, too....Last edited by Dave Severson; 05-11-2008 at 05:03 PM.

You're considering options that don't make any difference. Within limits, what matters is piston size and stroke on both ends. 3/16 is just fine.Jack

The biggest difference in 3 or 4 is the added area of the flex hoses to expand on the -4 sizes----3 always gives a better more solid pedal feel
Dave to answer your PM question---I have bought mostly from tubesales who have a warehouse right near me and I pick it up so shipping isn't an issue
The best price does come from buying several hundred feet at a time as footage equals price savings---also some stuff may have been on there racks for a while and you can get a retroactive price break---find the salesperson for your area and PR him about racing, etc---you can generally talk them into a better deal---generally different sizes can be added together for better per foot prices --brake and fuel line adds to the footage total and can turn into a
purchase into a much better deal
