    Question model a chassis

i recently bought a 1929 roadster and want to put it on a model a chassis my grand father had but need some help. there are two pieces that bolt on to the end of the chassis. there a curved shape and would stick out in front of the radiator and cover. one is there and bent pretty badly and the other is gone. i would like to know the actual name a nd a good place to buy them from. thanks for your help.

Do yourself a favor and buy or build a new chassis, A 70 something old A chassis even when boxed is a very flimsey peice and will flex like crazy. The one I had was pretty scary....

    Ditto to what H said.

I think the part you're asking about is the bumper bracket. They're available from anyplace that sells Model A parts.
The bumper and it's hardware should be the last thing you need to buy.
What the guys said about the chassis is true. The Model A chassis is probably full of stress cracks and rust already from years of use. It's not strong enough for anything more than the original drivetrain.
If you're a good welder you can box the frame. Boxing the frame is a lot of work. Making your own frame from 2X3 rectangular tubing is less work and you get a stronger frame.

Do you have any pics of the damage...A frames are pretty expensive to buy just the rails if it the frame horns that are damaged and or the bumper brackets mounts...speedwaymotors.com sells quite a few a frame parts. I agree and I am building my own chassis as far as seventy years of abuse goes, the frame I had was so twisted and off square that I felt this was the smart option, someone on here gave me this link on fabbing an A frame from box tubing check it out pretty nice stuff http://www.theantidote.com/one/1chass01.htm

    That link was acting strangly.
I remember when it did work (a few weeks ago) that it was an excellent documentation of how to make a Model A chassis from rectangualr tube stock.

It was so good that I searched around and tis one seems to work now:
