Power Steering Conversion
Anybody here ever use a kit made by No Limit Engineering to convert old straight axle trucks to power steering using a Toyota steering box? My question really revolves around 2 things.
First, clearance between the Toy box (that just sounds funny don't it?) and the headers on my Cameo. I don't have the kit with the mounting bracket or the pitman arm, but I do have a Toy box (Just makes me laugh everytime I say it.) and it looks like clearance could be an issue with the way the bracket is mounted according to the pix on their website.
Second, I'm concerned with the angle that the input shaft of the Toy box () would be at when mounted. It looks like it would be rather steep compared to the original box. I know that the kit comes with a U joint to mount between the box and the steering column shaft; but even still it looks pretty damn steep (too steep in fact). I would rather not buy the kit to find out that it don't work worth a damn. So, if any of you have used this kit on 55-59 Chev or GMC trucks, I would love to hear about your experiences with it.
BTW I know I could call them and ask the ???'s but I don't want a sales pitch, I want the real skinny if I can get it.
Thanks,
