IMO lockers seem to work better when being abused. Clutch type posi's seem to wear and don't work as well as when they were first installed. Spring type posi's work pretty dang well, but are usually pricey.Ryan

I will take that advice to the bank. I think the truck owner thinks if he pays more it is a better product, but to me to ruin a locker would take alot abuse, a 350 just couldn't do, I just don't see clutches outlasting the ratchating affect of harden steel THANKS

i used both on the street for over 30 years the last was a locker were i was thinking a car at3800 and 950 hp would need 35 spline axles and a locker would be the best for the job??? and was the only thing i could get for the bigger spline axles . well i do not care for the locker. first thing it busted was my 400 trans art carr/coan trans on the street .with a locker there is some roll out/free play when you go in to a turn it,s a bang sound well what happened was i got on the car hard like i allways do got off it then my foot right back in it then hit 2 gear then took 2 gear sprag out right then and there out of the trans. i ran clutch posi setup when setup right they last my 9 inch ford has the same chutchs in it when it was rebuilt in 1983 its been in two of my cars one tub out gto with a 475 bbc roller engine 13to1 engine and all the engines in my 50 chevy up to a blown 548 bbc and if you think i take it easy on this stuff you are wrong . with chutch set ups .they do not last when they not set up right you could get shims from ford i set them up very tight there fine for staight line use mild street use and week end drag racing .full time drag buy a spoolLast edited by pat mccarthy; 12-24-2013 at 07:24 AM.

Take a hard look at the TrueTrac. It's a spiral gear carrier that gives you locker performance with posi-trac manners, and they are virtually bullet proof. It has none of the problems Pat mentioned for a true locker when turning, no popping, clicking, chirping, just smooth action. I've been running one in my '33 for a couple of years, and it pulls out of the hole straight and true, both tires getting equal power and it needs NO additives or funny stuff to work right. Best money you'll spend if you're buying new anyway.Last edited by rspears; 12-24-2013 at 06:57 AM.

If you do go with a clutch type limited slip or posi, add another friction in there somewhere. We've always done this to get it as tight as possible and it works every time. I can show you trucks making in excess of 1000ft lbs of torque on the street getting beat and they take it. (But eventually the carrier or side gears have enough)Ryan
