    heavy or not?

i have a 1929 tudor sedan body that has a custom frame of 2"x4" 3/16" wall tube, will be running a 460 ford with aluminiun intake and water pump, cast iron heads, no bumpers, fenders, or hood, aluminium radiator, no power steering, light interior, my question is for the traverse leaf for the front end do i need a heavy spring or a standard spring. i have been trying to research spring rates and other info with not much luck any help greatly appreciated, thanks

Most of the new aftermarket transverse front springs are built for the larger heavier engines. If you feel you need more you can always add leafs. Just call the local spring and brake shop or the manufacture with the specifics and they can dial it right in for you. I'm sure there are formulas to figure all that stuff out but my gut feeling is its a trial and error thing for most. Buy a spring pack, too light remove springs, too heavy add springs? A lot depends on where you drive and road conditions. It would probably be less critical on trailer queen than a hot rod so what your planning to do with it might factor in as well... Strip or Show?

Or look up Eaton Spring on this inter webby thingy. They've been doing springs for autos since the second car rolled out the door!
