Hi Everyone - I have a 46' Ford with an aftermarket front crossmember welded in with brackets and welded in (hidden) nuts to bolt in a Early Mustang power rack and pinion steering unit - I had the rack and pinion rebuilt and they sent it back with rubber insulators that extend 1/2 inch out of the mounting brackets on the crossmember side of the r/p mounting brackets. Is this normal? Should there be any washers or ? between the r/p and the crossmember? or should I just force the excess rubber to mushroom against the crossmember? or cut them? And should there be washers used on the bolt head side? whew!!!!
sorry it sounds so confusing - thanks for any help!
