    Question Help Needed with IFS

I need some help with a IFS that my husband and I are putting in my 1942 Chevy Truck. We've installed the Heidts front end kit but find the steering shaft is going to be in the way of the motor mount. Is it proper to cut a small portion of the mount out to make this work? Any help would be great. Thanks stu (Elaine)

i would add an 1 or 2 extra u-joint like Boreson Joint http://www.borgeson.com/products.htm , that should help you clear eveything...joe

Would depend on where and how much of the mount you have to trim. Got a pic of the clearance issue?? A small trim not affecting the structure or strength would probably be ok, otherwise the extra u-joints would be the best plan. Hard to say without seeing it which would be the best plan.

Here's a photo of the mount area.

Here is a photo of the cut we need to make. It's the first joint on the power rack that is in the way of the mount.

Just wondering if ya got it figured out. Had the same issue with a Fat Man Kit on my friends 55 Cheby truck. If you are NOT using the tubular motor mounts. We filled in the remaining space in the support of the mount(were your knuckle passes) making it larger as well, then hole sawed our passage fer the steering knuckle. This made that support wall piece larger and more sound for us to cut a hole through, instead of trimming the little that was originally there.
