First things first............follow Richard's advice. The people who build the stuff know the stuff.
As for the "I've heard..............................", that's one of the biggest problems with just about any endeavor. Any improperly built and parts spec'd car will handle poorly, run poorly, whatever. There are lots of bozos out there who like to tell negative stories because they're too lazy to learn what works.
