I did this once on a 61 Falcon. It worked alright, but there is a lot of work to be done. After jigging the car so nothing moves, remove the front dog house, remove the front suspension (A arms, springs, spindles, center link, etc, etc), remove the front inner fender panels. Then weld in tubing between the firewall and the front of the frame just behind the radiator support. it should angle outward and upward at the upper end of the firewall.
Weld in several vertical supports. Remove the steering box with shaft and housing. Cut the shaft from the worm gear. cut the Housing several inches shorter and find a bearing that has the outter dimensions of the housing and inner dimensions of the shaft.
Get a Late 66's F100 pickup steering box and make a connector. (U-joint works best. You'll have to make your box mount too. (You'll find that the falcon box and pitman arm hasn't enough swing for the cross steering application, but I suppose you could use one of the Flaming River, etc, etc Vega boxes and pitman arm) The rest is pretty simple.
You can find a universal gasser type straight axle at www.speedwaymotors.com.
I wish I had written everything done when I did this in 1989. it would have made it a lot easier to explain. Oh and if you run an FE, late 60's pickup headers will work with just a tad bit of hammer persuasion.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 10-04-2004 at 04:38 PM.

Some of the other stuff is coming back to me.
I used one of the tube type engine mount cross member for the 53 and up F100s. Just shortened it to fit. Also seems like there is a stock engine mount cross/suspension member that must be removed, not sure on that one as my geezerness is setting in on me.
Wish you luck. And if you get as far as I have outlined you'll see any other problems that might crop up.Duane S
