tcodi, the more i look at that bearing it looks like thats the bearing part that you can see in the pic. if that is the bearing then its in wrong. i cant really tell from here. i dont belive you can put it in backwards but that sure looks like the bearing. the outer part that you can turn with your hand goes to the clutch folks.

i went back and looked again and that part would have to be right.

Looks like the bearing flange side out .............. but yer' right it's hard to see for sure. I think that's right because you can see the fork & the "spring clips" that hold the bearing to the fork .............. @ least I think that's what I'm lookin' @.

The part that spins is on the engine side of the picture, where you can't see. I do have the bearing pushed as far in the fork as it will go, as I inspect it more I guess that is the only thing that's wrong. I thought that bearing had to be backed all the way in the fork.
I guess I'm just gettin paranoid.
Thanks for all the input everyone.

The bearing pivots on the ends of the fork. If you push it all the way in, it won't pivot and stay flat on the clutch fingers - which is what you noticed early on.

By the way . . . you may not be paranoid . . . they may REALLY be out to get you. . .

How stiff is the diaphram supposed to be on a pressure plate? I just put mine on the floor and placed the throw out bearing on top and stood on it and it didn't even flex.
