Make sure its nonlock-up, or lock-up, depending on what you have, and also, earlier 350's had thrust washers at the pump and back of the case. The later ones use torrington bearings. If same-same is not used you will end up with too much, or too little endplay. Is it just the bell housing that is cracked?? If so, and you have the other piece, a good welder can weld it back on.

I have a 700R4 tranny and I was wondering how to tell if its lock up or non lockup. There is also a plug in on the drivers side with no wires running to it, whats it for and do I need to fix it?

You can keep the old case and buy a bolt on bell housing that bolts to the front pump. That would be easier, not sure of the cost of the bolt on housing though. A friend of mine has used these and likes them. Just something to consider. Looked in JEGS online and found this one. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...05&prmenbr=361
As far as I know all overdrive tranny's have lock-up converters, if you didn't have them it would get too hot in overdrive.Last edited by 73RS; 03-19-2005 at 02:24 AM.
