What manual transmission?
What manual transmission do you recommend?
Most reasonable price?
Reliable?
From start the engine will be a 350 SBC. Later plans are 383 stroker kit.
The car is a 34 Ford Roadster.
The rear axle is Jagaur with 3,54:1.
Is it ok to buy such things from wreck yards?

Buyin' A tranny from a boneyard is just like buyin' anything else from there. You just gotta look and get a good price and plan on rebuildin' most of the time. Sometimes you can find a good one, but I don't know what the boneyards are like in Norway. Do you have a preference for number of gears? An old 3 speed or older 4 speed will use mechanical linkage to engage the clutch, most newer 5 spds use hydraulic, so you would need to think about hooking it up to the pedal and mounting the clutch master cylinder. Not as bad as it sounds if you are pretty handy. I'd probably try to find one out of a late '60's early '70's GM car. You'd probaby find a muncie in most of those. Some of the later models used a saginaw and they worked pretty well too, not as tough as the muncies though.

I'm planning on using a more modern 5 or 6 speed like the T56 or similar.
It was US bone yards i was thinking of. Or eBay.
To me it looks like I can choose between rebuildt ones, new ones or from a bone yard.
I have a legal mailbox address at a shipping company in New Jersey. Then I can buy from sellers who don't send outside US, too.
I'm aware of the hydraulic clutch problem, but since I'm using pedals from a car who also have hydraulic clutch, it won't be a problem after all.

When searching through a junkyard, avoid severely smashed cars. The drivetrain was most likely knocked out of alignment and nothing is usable. If you find a good trans, inspect it very very very carefully. You should catch problems now and fix them before they become a headache later.>: )

Well, that was fun. You ask for what to use, then you say you already plan to use. Little confusing.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
