    Th350 shifting problem

     



    I have a 1972 monte calro custom with a chevy 400 sb and a th350 tranny the motor has a few hop ups on it and stock tranny im having trouble with the shifting it will not kick down when you stepp on it at any speed and by the time you get to 25mph your in 3rd gear way to quick shifting anyone help me?

    sounds like the kick-down cable is not hooked up, or out of adj.

    if your running a holley or different carb the geometry is off. when you floor it it pulls the detent cable out and you have no t hrottle preasure. it's stacking the shifts. unless you set your full throttle at the end of the tp cable travel it will do this every time. i use a lokar cable. the stock plastic one will slip easy after the first time. hope this helps

    i ahve a edelbrock 750 performer carb and a universal throttle and tranny kick down mount from jegs can anyone send me a picture of the correct amount of play that should be on the kickdown cable?

    ive read instructiosn on how to adjsut it but when you hold it fullthrottle are you suppose to adjust the cable so that its tight on the end or are you suppose todo the oppostie and have it at the end where it slides in so there play.??

    at full throttle the cable should be tight, or bottomed out.
