    C4 to C6 - direct bolt in?

I am presently swapping my tired 302 for a 351W, and I just found out the guys giving me a C6 along with the engine. He's just torching out the complete unit and didn't want to get in to pulling things apart.

I have a '30 Model A and it's got a piece of tube channel welded frame to frame and then has a bracket bolted to it, which then recieves the C4 tranny mount. It's got to be to easy for the C6 to just slide in - right? I realize the shaft would definitely have to be shortened, but what else is involved in the swap. Could Ford have been smart enough to line things up, so that either tranny could fit?

I would assume the tranny crossmember and the engine mount crossmemeber almost have to be welded in with the motor/tranny kind of sitting where you want them - true? I'm speaking about when you really get in to a full custom install - and hopefully this change to a C6 isn't quite that elaborate.

Also, where's a good site that might offer crossmembers for trannies?

    Thanks

    Dave
