    Thumbs down well ... everything perfect.. not tranny bellhousing is cracked!!>???

     



    well one thing after another.. 4 months with the 700 r4 in.. and just tonight driving it around listin to music.. and i heard a tickin.. i pulled her over and checked it out and it was comin from around the flywheel .. i checked all the flywheel bolts and they were all tight so i started it again and poped the hood and looked down and the drivers side tranny bolt to the block .. well the bellhousing is cracked... so uhh.. am i gonna need a new tranny.. just because of that... and so far thats the only reason i could think of the ticking sound.. the transmission internals are prefectly perfect and i dont have the money to get a new one... what should i dooo????? plz help.. thanx guys

    depending on how horrific that crack is, you can take it to a machine shop, have them brush it, and tig it back together...Had to have that done to a customer's F250...The bellhousing split on the passenger side, 3 inches back, and the cracked portion was large enough to span 2 bellhousing bolts...

    a good tig welder should be able to put it back as good or better than it used to be.

    I agree, weld it, it'll work as good as ever. Just be sure its bolted to a block when you weld.

    I don't think it's necessary to have it bolted to anything when it's welded. Although, the bolt hole may need to be drilled out afterwards. Went through the same thing on a C-6 in a Ford pick up.

    You might want to check all the mounts for integrity, motor and tranny. They normally crack for a reason.

    weld it up and call it good, seen it done alot. Better make sure you check all of your mounts though, thats usually the cause of the crack.
