    Hydralic clutch problem

I'm trying to sort out the clutch on my Chevy (383 stroker) powered 53 Studebaker coupe. I can't get the clutch to disengage because I can't get enough throw from the slave cylinder. I installed a new slave (7/8 bore), rebuilt the MC (1 inch bore), but still no joy. I know Chevy's use a few different throwout bearing and clutch forks and pivot balls. I'm running a Lakewood housing, don't know if I have a adjustable pivot ball, or where it is or how to adjust it. Any idea's ?

Rather than go through the hassle of trying to find the right combo of arms ,levers and bearings, why not use a hydraulic bearing? see your Summit catalougr.

It was working when I bought the car, I'm begginng to suspect it's a clutch issue.

I don't know if this will help, but I had a Fiero a few years ago that the clutch quit working in. I replaced the slave cyl - still didn't work. So I replaced the master cyl - still didn't work. I must have bled a quart of brake fluid through that system and could not detect any air in it... Finally, after many hours of frustration, I was just standing there staring at the slave cylinder and it struck me that it just didn't look straight. I put a small level across the top of it and, sure enough, the bleeder end was about a sixteenth of an inch lower that the other end. I Jacked up the car on that side, bled the cylinder again and got a bunch of air out of it. The clutch worked perfectly after that. My point is, make sure that the bleeder on the slave cyl is the highest point on it when you're bleeding it. Good luck.

OK, you said it used to work, so it will work again. How about a little more info. Like, what happened before it quit working. You changed something, it just slowly quit or something else?
