Turbo 400 fixed yoke
Hi guys, any help will be much appreciated. i have a 53 ford f100. recently I wedged in a cad 500 with a turbo 400 trans which has a fixed yoke, if i remember from a big 80s chevy dual driveshaft truck. Anyways, my question is, can i find a driveshaft with a slipyoke in it to allow for back and forthemovement. The rearend is a ford nine inch, fixed as well. I know I will have to get some custom shortening or lengthing done, but are there any 4x4s that come with something I can start with? From the other side, how hard will it be to switch the tail of the fixed yoke to a moveable? thanks for any help at all!!!

I just went through the same problem. 52 F-1 with a Chevy/TH400. You have the 3" output shaft. You'll need a 2 piece driveshaft. Unless your truck came with a 2 piece driveshaft, you'll have to build a carrier bearing crossmember, and the carrier bearing had better be the same angle as the pinion angle. You need a long output shaft transmission, and a 1 piece driveshaft that can slide on the output shaft of the transmission. A lot of guys with GM engines opt for the TH700 4R. It's the same size as the TH350 w/9" output shaft, 4 speed, has an overdrive, and is just as strong as the TH400. FYI...The TH400 will rob you of HP.52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
