Besides my Model A roadster, I'm also working on my 87 Monte Carlo SS. I just dropped in a healthy 355 but left the stock 200 4R metric transmission and converter. I hooked the TV (throttle valve) cable to the kick down stud on my Edelbrock 600 carb. I know it doesn't go there but I wanted it out of the way. I did a few holeshots down the street, and now I don't have any forward gears. It goes into reverse just fine, but when you drop it in drive it just free revs. I ordered a TV cable bracket from B&M, but am I too little too late?
