    Tremec TK0500

I want to chage over from my 350 tranny to a Tremec TK0500 5 speed in my chevy truck. Right now I have my brake comiing through the floor board and really don't have alot a leg room so I was thinking of going with a clutch and brake pedel through the firewall saving me some leg room. Since I have never done this switch before, I was wondering what kind of job I'm in for.. I'm sure I can get a bell housing to fit my SBC and the tranny mounts can either be made or bought. Anyone ever done this changover before?

never have done that swap on a chebbie, I am fairly sure it will require either a special bellhousing or an adapter. Might want to check, I know Lakewood and McCleod both make a bellhousing with the correct bolt pattern to put a Tremec behind most any Ford motor.

On the pedals, maybe a set of hanging pedals mounted to the firewall??? Wilwood and other companies have them. You might also want to consider a hydraulic clutch, makes the installation a lot easier than clutch linkage.

Should make the chebbie pickemup a super cruiser!!!! Keep us updated on the progress.....

Dave after looking into pricing, I decided to go with a tranny that will hook up with my engine. The 305 came out of a 1982 chevy truck and chevy had two 4 speed trannys for that year. A THM200-R4, and a THM700-R4. Not familar with either of them. Are either of them good for some on and off racing?

I don't know, not an automatic man at all. There is a lot of guys using the 700's, not sure what they need for mods.

personally I wouldn't put a 200r4 in anything, it came behind the small motors. a good built 700r4 is ok,

Agree. 200R's are too light duty. Use the 700R4

Why are the Tremecs so expensive? I'd love to put one in my car, but $3k?
